
The Office of International Affairs and Linkages (IAL), formerly known as the Office of Advancement and Linkages, operates under the Office of the President to lead and promote the university’s internationalization efforts. As the gateway to global and domestic partnerships, IAL coordinates initiatives in:
- Student, faculty, and staff exchange programs
- Academic, research, and extension partnerships
- Knowledge sharing and professional development
- Scholarships and global mobility opportunities
Established in 2014, IAL has grown into a pivotal hub for international education, especially as the first fisheries university in the Philippines. The office aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and promotes gender equality and inclusive engagement.
🌏 Recent Highlights
- 43 faculty involved in international engagements — research, seminars, and workshops
- 19 BSHM students completed internships abroad
- 10 CoEd students joined global immersion programs
- Hosted “International Fisheries Modeling Training” with IRD and Blue Nations (France)
IAL has collaborated with institutions across Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, France, China, and Vietnam. It also convened major events such as:
- Halal Food Online Conference with Universitas Brawijaya (UB)
- International ICT Research Colloquium with UMSU (20+ global research projects presented)
These platforms foster innovation, cultural exchange, and academic collaboration — helping bridge divides and empower future leaders.
📌 What’s Ahead
- Looking ahead, IAL aims to expand its network of partners, with upcoming student internship programs in Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand for BSHM and College of Agriculture students, as well as an international conference in Indonesia. These efforts not only enhance our global standing but also empower individuals to become ambassadors of goodwill, paving the way for a more harmonious and interconnected world. Through these initiatives, IAL creates new avenues for intercultural exchange and collaboration, aligning with the United Nations SDGs. By integrating global perspectives into education and research, the office ensures ISUFST remains at the forefront of international fisheries education. Through its unwavering commitment to excellence, IAL aspires to cultivate future leaders equipped to thrive in an interconnected world, driving sustainable development and innovation in the fisheries sector and beyond.
