Students from Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology (ISUFST) participated in the “Suba Sang Linao, Tin-Aw!” Creek Clean-Up Drive on August 15, 2024, alongside the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Barotac Nuevo. The initiative, organized by the Office of the Municipal Mayor, aimed to save, protect, and preserve the natural assets of Linao Creek, improve solid waste management, and promote public health and sanitation.
ISUFST National Service Training Program (NSTP) students, including both Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) and Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) members, joined the clean-up drive under the guidance of NSTP Director Dr. Lorelie Robles. She highlighted the university’s commitment to assisting the LGU through initiatives like the “Banwa Ko, Limpyo Ko” program, which not only helps maintain cleanliness but also contributes to reducing the spread of diseases such as dengue.
The event began with a kick-off program at 7:30 a.m., followed by the clean-up along the Linao Creek, covering the Tabucan, Ilaya, and Tabuc-Suba areas. Students were equipped with clean-up tools to ensure the success of the drive and the safety of all participants. (PAMMCO)
